Where to start
useful information
Apply for provisional driving licence
First of all apply for your provisional driving licence online from www.gov.uk/apply-first-provisional-driving-licence or you can apply by post. Fill in form D1 available from the DVLA form ordering service and certain Post Office branches. Your provisional licence should arrive within 3 weeks
Book and study for your theory test
After receiving your provisional driving licence you are able to have driving lessons and also book your theory test at www.gov.uk/book-theory-test its best to study well so that you can pass first time using official DVLA books, dvd's and apps also its a good idea to read the official highway code.
Practical Driving test
Every pupil is different some need 30 to 40 hours of professional tuition others need more. it is only possible to book your practical driving test after you have passed your theory test. You can book your practical driving test at www.gov.uk/book-driving-test. It is possible to book your practical driving test in advance and have lessons including a mock test leading up to your practical driving test but if it is decided that you are not ready it is possible to move your test back to give more time to perfect skills.
